Our Story
At Mending Hope Equine Rescue, equine wellbeing is at the forefront of what we’re working together towards. Focusing one saving one horse at time from the slaughter pipeline to ensure we can care for our current equine. Our programs and activities are designed to be a catalyst that helps Equines reach their full potential and find forever homes. Learn more about the positive impact we have and join us in bringing about positive change.
We also recognize the impact a horse can have on our lives! We visit skilled nursing facilities with some of the rescues. We offer a Horses & Heros Program for Veterans that is partnered with Patriot Horsemanship.
Our founder has master's degree in advanced nurse Practitioner & certificate in Family Nurse Practitioner. With a mental health education and work background.
Mending Hope Equine Rescue at a Glance
The purpose is to rescue equines from situations that are abusive, endangering, and neglectful. To gentle mustangs, provide additional training, and rehabilitation (behavioral and/or medical) to all equines. To provide a safe place for equine until a forever home can be found or a permanent sanctuary. To educate the public on mustangs and all equine abuse. In support of these efforts, the organization seeks to increase the beneficial human and equal relationship through animal/human interaction.

Current Events/Programs
One of auction rescues is Cash a little mini colt. In his short time with us he has learned to lead, pick up his feet, and load. He no longer runs from us and enjoys human contact! His socialization is also helping us with our Healing Hooves Program. He has put many smiles on faces and grown to be quite the lovebug. We visited a Veteran at his residents who was unable to come to the rescue for the Horses and Heroes' program that we partner with Patriot Horsemanship to provide.
We also visited our first skilled nursing facility.

Bringing Change
Health Clinic
At Mending Hope Equine Rescue, we are dedicated to stepping up our efforts in addressing this issue. Health Clinic is by no means an easy feat, but through cooperation and community empowerment we believe we can facilitate progress in this area. We are always striving to make a difference. Soon we hope to be offering equine first aid classes as well as offer basic equine care such as best feed for your horse and body scoring.
Food Donation Drop-Off
With the different health levels and needs for different equine can be expensive but necessary. We feed our senior horses triple Crown senior feed which is $33 for a 50 pound bag. Another horse may require a low calorie feed which can lead to multiple types of feeds being used in one day. We generally use triple Crown or purina if he would like to drop any off that would be great or have it shipped.
Mending Hope Equine Rescue
Rescue's count on support from their followers to be able to save shelter and care for equines. It is a misconception that rescues get government funding. We rely on our supporters and grants. We cannot do what we do without you! Our hay bill a month is between $1,660 and $2,410. On top of that we have the cost of farrier $45 a trim, vet, dental starting at $80, dewormer, training fees of $1,000 a month per horse and all other expenses that come with horse including all ground care. We currently have 16 horses. One horse currently at the trainers. Every dollar adds up, all donations are appreciated!
More ways to donate! Zeffy is a free plat form that allows us to fund raise and take donation, it is free for nonprofits!
