From spirited Mustangs to gentle geldings and mares, our horses are lovingly cared for and trained by dedicated professionals. Penny
Penny is a 2009 Devil’s Garden Mustang mare, standing 14.2 hands tall. She arrived in March 2022 as an owner surrender and was unhandled at the time.
With time, patience, and gentling, Penny has made excellent progress. She now halters and leads, making her an ideal pasture pet or companion horse. Penny has a sweet personality, loves treats, and continues to gain confidence each day.

Ava
Ava is a 2023 Thoroughbred mare who came to the rescue as an owner surrender. She has a previous back pastern injury, and x-rays from August 2025 showed mild arthritis, though she is not lame.
While Ava is not suited for high-impact sports, she is perfect for trail rides or light dressage-style riding. She has been training at the rescue to continue gentling and building confidence. Ava is a beautiful young mare ready to grow with the right adopter.

Isaac
Isaac is a 2005 Paint gelding standing about 15 hands tall. He arrived in February 2022 as an owner surrender, underweight, with an ingrown halter, and displaying food aggression. He was unsure of people and not safe to handle at that time.
Since then, Isaac has made excellent progress. He has filled out beautifully, enjoys life in the herd, and is safe and comfortable around other horses. Isaac loves head and neck scratches and responds well to gentle handling.
Isaac still carries a few behaviors from his past, so he will do best with a patient and experienced adopter who can continue helping him feel safe and secure.

Hope
Hope is a 2022 Devil’s Garden Mustang mare who came to the rescue in March 2023 from the U.S. Forestry Service needing a soft landing. She had a luxated sacrum, likely from being bred too young in the wild. Shortly after arriving, Hope gave birth to her colt, Chance, and received careful pain management, gentling, and hoof care.
In April 2025, Hope traveled to Cleveland Equine Clinic for imaging and reevaluation of her old injury and was cleared for saddle work. She also received two months of professional training, including gentling, beginning saddle work (not yet ridden), and bodywork from her trainer, an Equine Myofascial Cranial Realignment specialist.
Hope is a sweet, willing mare ready to find her forever home as either a pasture companion or under-saddle horse.

Today, Pixie enjoys a quiet life with the herd and is steadily learning to trust humans. She would make a wonderful pasture pet or non-riding companion for someone who appreciates a gentle spirit and is willing to continue helping her build confidence.

Cinnamon
Cinnamon is a BLM Mustang rescued from the Sugar Creek Auction in Ohio. She came to the rescue unhandled and had been bred to a Clydesdale. She gave birth to her foal, Blaze, who has since found her forever home. Cinnamon has been learning basic handling and gentling at the rescue.
Cinnamon stands 14.1 hands tall, and her exact age is unknown. She is untrained but has incredible potential for adopters who are ready to invest the time to build a strong training bond.

Scarlett is a BLM Mustang mare rescued from the Sugar Creek Auction in Ohio. She came to the rescue in December 2023 completely unhandled and had been bred to a Clydesdale. While at the rescue, Scarlett gave birth to her foal, Amelia, who has since found her forever home.
Scarlett stands 13.2 hands tall, and her exact age is unknown. She received five months of professional training from March through August 2025, focusing on handling skills and working through past trauma. She enjoys her training time and continues to make steady progress every day.

Sienna

Gypsy is a 2016 Devil’s Garden Mustang mare who came to the rescue in May 2024. She arrived untrained and initially struggled to adjust to domestic life, but with patience and care, she is steadily making progress.
Gypsy has a sweet, gentle nature and is currently learning leading and basic gentling. She is building trust and confidence and would thrive with an adopter willing to continue her training and provide a calm, loving environment.

Spartacus
Spartacus is a hinny (a mix between a male horse and a female donkey) born around 2020. He stands 12 hands tall and came to the rescue unhandled in November 2023.
Spartacus has the classic hinny temperament—stubborn, independent, and strong-willed—but he is also curious and entertaining. He can be dominant and takes time to warm up to other horses, though he is doing well in his current herd. He is not a guardian animal. Dove
Dove is a 2025 Mustang filly, born at our rescue on April 1 to Aria, a BLM Mustang from ROAR, a failed Texas rescue.
Dove is sweet, loving, and adores attention. She has started haltering and leading, and she continues to gain confidence and enjoy human interaction every day. Dove would make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a friendly, affectionate young Mustang.

Rain
Rain is a 2024 Murderers Creek Mustang mare who arrived at our rescue from Double Devil Wild Horse Corrals in July 2025.
She is lightly started in halter and is sweet, curious, and eager to learn. Rain arrived with ulcer scarring on both eyes, which she still has, but it does not slow her down. She continues to gain confidence each day and would make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a gentle, affectionate Mustang.

Aria is a 2020 BLM Mustang mare who arrived from ROAR, a failed Texas rescue. She came to us pregnant and gave birth to Dove at our rescue.
Aria is learning to trust people and discovering that human hands can be gentle. She would do well with someone patient and willing to put in the work to help her build trust and confidence.

Long-Term Residents
These special horses have found their forever home here at Mending Hope Equine Rescue. While some of these horses are not available for adoption due to age, medical conditions, or other circumstances, they are all cherished members of our herd. Some will simply enjoy a peaceful retirement, while others will participate in public events such as Horses & Heroes and Healing Hooves, helping to inspire and connect with our community. Each horse has a unique story, and we are honored to provide them with a safe, loving home for life.
Spirit
Spirit is a beautiful Mustang who is still learning to trust humans. While she is not currently available for adoption, she is slowly beginning to show interest in us — watching closely as the other horses receive love and attention. We are giving Spirit all the time and space she needs to feel safe and comfortable.
Stanley
Stanley is a mini-horse born around 2020. Now a beloved member of our herd, Stanley plays an important role in our community outreach programs, Horses & Heroes and Healing Hooves, where he helps bring joy, comfort, and connection to those who need it most.
